BC Invasive Plant Specialist Job Posting
Posted On: February 09, 2016

Are you curious as to the issue and impacts of invasive plant species in British Columbia?  Do you want to make a difference and help protect our diverse habitats?  Do you have experience in integrated pest management, invasive and/or native plant ecology, and enjoy working with diverse groups and passionate individuals to achieve common objectives?  If yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dynamic Invasive Plant Program team!

This position is one of four invasive plant specialists that are part of the Invasive Plant Program, and is based in sunny Kamloops.  This city still offers that “small town” feel while providing “big city” amenities and easy access to the Okanagan, Lower Mainland, and anywhere else you want to go.  Situated in the heart of “cowboy country”, the diverse landscape and easy access to nearby lakes, ski resorts, mountain bike and hiking trails, and more provides full four season recreational opportunities.

As an Invasive Plant Specialist, you will provide expert professional advisory services and operational program administration through a variety of delivery approaches, all of which include collaboration and cooperation with other ministries, First Nations, non-government agencies, and multi-stakeholder stewardship groups.  You will be required to remain current on emerging invasive plant threats and research results, analyze control strategies and measure effectiveness, and provide leadership on all aspects of integrated pest management.
